SYMPOSIO RESTAURANT

Symposio Restaurant is a Traditional Greek Restaurant that serves fresh food often with a twist.  The owners Filimonas and Joanna are passionate about the food and service and have the pleasure of customers returning year after year.

In 1894 the Ioannides family moved from Mikra Asia (Turkey), to the village of Lindos and having settled decided to open a little business in the village.

In 1906 they opened a traditional coffee shop, “Kafenio”. At that time all the restaurants were called this.

By 1968 the Kafenio had become known as the “Symposium” which in Greek means a getting together or gathering of a group of people to eat and drink. In Ancient Greece , the Greeks would drink first and eat later…………!

The business passed from generation to generation and still remains in the family today.  Over the years they have changed the decorations according to their customer needs and comforts, but they have not changed their traditional kitchen. During the re-decorations they uncovered some ancient artefacts and relics and these are now displayed in the restaurant.

The name remains the same and so does their desire to be an ideal place for a SYMPOSIUM, join them and be part of a tradition that dates back to Ancient times.
